On March 18th, 140+ Glove-a-phones were created by local youth with the support of MELODY Music Outreach, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to introduce children to playing musical instruments at an early age. MELODY provided hands-on, engaging experiences that connect children with the joy of music-making and the science behind sound.
The Glove-a-phone, a simple wind instrument crafted from household materials, serves as a playful yet educational tool. While building and playing their instruments, students discovered how pitch is influenced by the length of the air column—a longer tube produces a lower pitch, while a shorter tube raises it. This foundational concept mirrors how real brass and woodwind instruments function.
